Albert Shelton (1875-1922) was an American medical doctor and pioneering Protestant missionary in Tibet. This fascinating memoir relates his life, with many fascinating details about war in Tibet, relations with both local Tibetans and Chinese, encounters with robbers and his relations with Tibetans of every social class. Soon after this book appeared, Shelton was killed by gunfire in an attack by bandits. The overall condition is good with clean cover and tight binding and mostly clean unmarked pages. However, two pages have purple crayon scribbles (see photo), and there is light tanning. Smoke-free home. See all photos carefully to judge the condition.
Note: This scarce title is considered a classic source on Tibetan history and usually lists very high. This is a chance to buy at an affordable price.
