Vintage Rose O’Neil Kewpie Embroidered and Patchwork Quilt Top. How adorable is this vintage quilt top? This quilt top depicts several images of Rose O’Neil’s kewpie doll in different activities such as playing music, swimming, reading, dancing, ect. and anchored in each each corner is a swan, pelican, stork and duck. The quilt has squares of green with the hand embroidered kewpie square in a bleached muslin cotton. Kewpie’s have been popular since the 1930s when Rose O’Neill dreamed them up and unfortunately I do not know the age of this quilt top but I would say it would probably be 40s or 50s perhaps earlier based on the green color fabric used and this has been machine sewn and hand embroidered. The quilt top is in great condition for its age but there are some small spots here and there and one Kewpie looks as if something was set on it which are shown in the pictures. The quilt top measures 79 x 79 1/2 and could be made larger with another border.
