CROOKSVILLE BURLEY AND WINTER POTTERY COMPANY BROWNWARE PITCHER WITH (10)MUGS. They were made between 1892 and 1915.  The pitcher and mugs have a man smoking a pipe on one side and a windmill on the other.  The pitcher is 8 1/2" tall and 8" from spout to handle.  The mugs are 4 5/8" tall and 4 5/8" across. There are some glazing defects as there is in most pottery. I do see some crazing on a couple mugs.  There are 10 mugs and a couple of them show some marking from age and usage. They are marked on the bottom with the encircled heart and Burley Winter Pottery Co. Crooksville.  This item comes from an estate and looked like it has been stored away many years ago. Please see attached pictures.
Burley Potteries in Crooksville, Ohio was purchased by John Burley in 1825.  It burned down in 1828. It was re-built by John Burley in 1831 and operated until 1885. From 1846 to 1860 Lazalier Burley was the next Burley in line.  He operated Bluebird Pottery at his home.  William Burley and Wilson
