This is a rare 1943 steel wheat penny without a mint mark. It was made during World War II when the United States was conserving copper for ammunition. The coin is composed of steel, unlike other pennies which were made of copper and zinc. It features the bust of Abraham Lincoln on the obverse side and two stalks of wheat on the reverse side.
